Anode protection technology has been successfully applied to the corrosion protection of various heat exchangers, especially sulfuric acid heat exchangers. Due to the successful application of anodic protection technology, heat exchangers made of various materials can be used, thereby basically eliminating the old-fashioned cast iron calandria spray coolers.
Anodic protection has been successfully applied to the corrosion protection of titanium tube heat exchangers handling dilute sulfuric acid. Anodic protection has also been successfully applied to stainless steel sulfuric acid pipelines.
Sulfuric acid plant coolers and piping are usually made of stainless steel. The implementation of anodic protection can prevent its pitting and perforation, thereby avoiding the accident potential of equipment damage, personnel safety threat and environmental impact. Sometimes, stainless steel is directly maintained in the activated state, which will cause serious corrosion damage to the metal. In this case, anodic protection is very useful, it can suppress potential fluctuations. By applying anodic current, the metal potential is maintained in a passive state, thereby increasing the service life of stainless steel by an order of magnitude.
The passivation current of stainless steel in this system is not large, but the potential must not enter the passivation zone, otherwise the corrosion rate will increase. The key here is to have a reliable reference electrode to give good feedback Signal. The reference electrode must be stable, reproducible, and able to withstand the process temperature and pressure of the sulfuric acid environment.
For acid pipelines, the spacing and arrangement of auxiliary anodes are factors that cannot be ignored. Too few cathodes create current distribution problems, too many cathodes create issues with materials and installation. Not economically viable. Cathode spacing and placement are generally a function of tube diameter, the larger the tube diameter, the greater the cathode spacing.
Due to the continuous increase in market demand, the domestic sulfuric acid industry continued to pick up. In November, the operating rate of sulfuric acid enterprises increased to about 75%, showing a relatively good upward trend. At the same time, the market price of sulfuric acid continued to rise, up about 10% from the previous month. As the sulfuric acid market will enter the peak period of seasonal demand, especially the rapid growth of industries such as fertilizers, pesticides, and non-ferrous metals, will play a positive role in promoting the sulfuric acid industry. Since November, domestic sulfuric acid production has continued to increase, the market has become more active, product sales have increased, inventories have dropped significantly, prices in various regions have continued to rise, and the overall trend is high in the south and low in the north. The price of sulfuric acid in various places is as follows: 93% sulfuric acid is quoted at 350 yuan/ton in Northeast China, 98% sulfuric acid is quoted at 450 yuan/ton; 93% sulfuric acid is quoted at 250 yuan/ton in North China, and 98% sulfuric acid is quoted at 300 yuan/ton; East China 93% The price of sulfuric acid is 310 yuan/ton; the price of 93% sulfuric acid in South China is 190 yuan/ton, and the price of 98% sulfuric acid is 330 yuan/ton.
